To the parent advocating for their child everyday...
Feb 24, 2026
I sat in a 1:1 this week with a mom who looked exhausted. Not because she doesn’t love her child, but because she does.
Her little one was recently given an autism diagnosis. And while the internet is buzzing with new headlines, new political conversations, new “breakthrough” words being thrown around… She is still living in the thick of it every single day.
Therapies. IEP meetings. Waitlists. Food battles. Sleep battles. Insurance calls. Feeling like she has to fight to be heard.
And I found myself thinking…
Autism is still very much an epidemic in our country. Just because certain conversations are trending and politicians are speaking about it does not mean the work is done.
But… healing work is still happening in kitchens. Prevention conversations are still happening in homes.
The food supply is not magically clean.
Our environment is not magically detoxed.
Our systems are not magically reformed.
Vaccines are still a massive risk.
And families are still navigating very real challenges.|
But parents still hold the cards.
Not the school district or therapy center or insurance company. Not the ABA schedule handed to you as if it’s the only option.
You. You decide what your child needs.
You decide when to pivot. You decide when to question. You decide when to say no. And that is not easy.
Especially when you’re told, subtly or directly, that “the experts know best.”
I truly believe every parent is doing the best they can with the information we have at the time.
If you are in the trenches right now, feeling overwhelmed, feeling like the system is steering the ship instead of you… Pause. Take a breath. And remember, you are your child’s first line of defense. You are their advocate.
You are allowed to ask deeper questions.
You are allowed to pursue healing.
You are allowed to focus on food, minerals, gut health, detox pathways, nervous system regulation.
You are allowed to believe that improvement is possible.
This is still grassroots. This is still parent-led. This is still kitchen table medicine.
And you are not crazy for wanting more than symptom management. And you are more powerful than you’ve been led to believe.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and unsure what next step to take, a 1:1 consultation with me might be the right place to start.
We’ll slow it down, look at the root issues, and map out a path forward that feels empowering and doable.
