When what worked at 25 no longer works at 42...

Midlife metabolism changes and natural GLP-1 support beyond weight loss

I started to take Young Living’s GLP-1 support system not because I had some dramatic “before” moment, or a rock-bottom realization, or because there was a number on the scale that shocked me.

Honestly, it began with this simple, honest acknowledgement:
My body had changed.

I didn’t have 50 pounds to lose. I wasn’t necessarily panicking. I was just tired of how nothing seemed to work like it “used to”.

It was the subtle, steady changes experienced by so many of us in our late 30s and 40s and beyond, especially those raising preteens and teens while carrying the emotional and physical weight of everyday life.

My hormones. Energy. Metabolism.

It all was no longer operating in a way I knew how to support.

I tried! I adjusted, pushed through, told myself I just wasn’t working hard enough. But the truth was I didn’t feel like myself anymore.

And I think that’s the part many women don’t talk about out loud:

You can be functioning, grateful, and loving your life deeply, but still feel like something internally is off.

For me, it showed up as a quiet but persistent fatigue, and it wasn’t the kind you could just fix by a good night of sleep. It’s the kind that seemed to sit in my bones.

It showed up in weight settling in places it hadn’t before, those hormonal inches on your hips that weren’t there a couple years ago.

A little more inflammation. Water weight. Mental fog. Less metabolic flexibility.

It wasn’t necessarily dramatic. It was just a persistent part of my life.

And it made me realize that I knew my body before, but this was a body in a different season. A body that needed something different to support it.

I’ve spent the last 15 years supporting my health intentionally - oils, minerals, real food, nervous system support, learning to listen to my body instead of overriding it.

So, I knew I wasn’t starting from scratch. I just had to be honest about what my body needs right now.

And I think that’s where a lot of us are.
We have healthy habits, so why are we struggling?

It came down to realizing this: Stewardship of our bodies changes with our seasons. What worked at 25 won’t always work at 42.

What sustained us while raising babies may not be enough while raising teens.

What got us through survival seasons may not carry us into longevity. And I want longevity. Not just years of life, but strength inside those years.

I want to run with future grandchildren someday. Travel without exhaustion. Show up for the emotional weight of motherhood without feeling physically depleted. Live fully in the life God has given me and not just manage my way through it.

And I bet you do, too.

Then Young Living introduced their new GLP-1 support system, and I wondered, “Could this be part of the answer?”

I jumped right in.

I know this topic alone can bring up some big opinions, questions, curiosity, and even some judgment.

But for me, this isn’t about taking the easy way out. This isn’t a shot overriding my system, it’s helping to heal my system, to support my body in navigating hormone shifts, insulin sensitivity changes, and the very real metabolic realities women face in this season.

Because I’d already spent years building a strong foundation, supporting my nervous system, my gut, my hormones, and my habits, this didn’t feel like a shortcut either. It felt like alignment and another layer that was now needed.

A couple months in and here’s what I can honestly say:

I feel clearer, steadier, more energized, less inflamed, less driven by blood sugar swings and stress chemistry, more present in my actual life.

Yes, my body is responding physically and I’m grateful for that but it’s the internal change that I’m embracing right now.

I’m starting to feel like myself again.

And not because everything in life is suddenly easy, but I simply feel more equipped to live inside it all without constant depletion.

That’s why I’m sharing any of this at all.

Not because I think every woman needs to take the same path, but because I know I’m not the only one walking through this season of change hormonally, physically, emotionally, spiritually.

If you’re here too. If your body feels different and your energy is off. If you’re thinking about long-term health and longevity and the fact you’d like to run with your grandchildren without worrying if you’re going to fall or pull something… You’re not alone.

We all want to grow into energetic grannies who are stronger versions of ourselves, and I think it begins with realizing we are not okay. We might need to adjust some of our healthy habits to steward our body in this season of our life.

And honestly, what does it hurt to try something new when my body is asking for something different?
